While perhaps overshadowed by the landmark Megadeth albums that surround it, 1988’s So Far, So Good…So What! nevertheless set the music world afire with its mix of thrash-penetrative riffage and progressive twists. Despite beginning with oddly jubilant instrumental “Into the Lungs of Hell,” Dave Mustaine still sings with a mouthful of acid as he raves about bad bandmates, nuclear holocausts, drunk drivers and censorship. Though remodeled with ripping solos and double-kick intensity, their cover of Sex Pistols’ “Anarchy in the U.K.” brings a uniquely punky energy to the platinum selling album.
